1. Application Duration

From now on to March 10th 2021

Please make sure to complete the online application before the deadline.

Application for scholarships will be processed according to the schedules of different scholarships respectively.

Please note:

1. All the applicants must log into the International Student Application & Admissions System of Zhejiang University (Link), submit all the necessary application documents strictly as required and pay the application fee.

2. The winter break is from January 29th 2021 to February 26th 2021, application materials received during the above-mentioned time period will be processed after the beginning of the new semester.

  

2. Application Fee, Tuition Fee and Medical Insurance

1. Application fee: RMB 800 yuan ( non-refundable )

2. Tuition

RMB 108,000/whole program (2 years)

*This program is with a special tuition fee. The tuition standard is for reference, please wait for follow-up notice for the confirmed amount.

3. Medical Insurance Fee: RMB 800 yuan /Year (For specific information, please refer to item IX)

4. Way of Payment: Applicants are recommended to make the payment for application fee and tuition fee via ZJU Online Application System (Link).


3. Eligibility

    Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect the normal study, have a bachelor’s degree (Applicant who has not got the degree certificate when applying shall provide the pre-graduation certificate first, then provide the academic degree certificates no later than registration) and be under the age of 35 (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability).

    Applicant who has given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese nationality, according to the policy of Ministry of Education of the PRC.

    If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, the review of applicant’s application will be implemented according to the No.210 [2008] Article issued by Exit-Entry Administration Office, Provincial Public Security Bureau, Zhejiang Province(Download.docx).

Language proficiency requirements:

1. There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs, but they (except for English native speakers) must have an internet-based TOEFL test score 90 or IELTS test score 6.5 (or above).

TOEFL DI Code of Zhejiang University is C340. TOEFL MyBest score is accepted.

2. Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide GRENTS-GAT test score.


4. Documents for Application 

Applicants must log in to the International Student Application & Admissions System of Zhejiang University (Link), clearly fill in and completely upload the following materials as required.

The incomplete application materials or the application submitted by email will NOT be processed. Additional documents may be required when necessary.

Application fee will NOT be refunded regardless of the result of the application.

Please note: There is NO need for the delivery of hard copies of the application materials. Hard copies of the application materials will NOT be reviewed and further processed.

1. Application Form for Admission to Zhejiang University, pasted with a recent photograph (white background,35mm×45mmin size).

    Applicants shall fill in and submit the application form via the online application system first (Link), then print and sign the Application Form produced by the online application system.

2. A photocopy of passport.

3. Highest degree certificates, which must be original documents or notarized copies. If applicants are university students, they shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating expected graduation date. 

    Documents  in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4. Academic transcripts during Bachelor’s degree study, which must be original documents or notarized copies. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

5. Photocopies of language proficiency certificates. Applicants for English-instructed programs must provide the certificate of TOEFL or  IELTS test score. (Not required for English native speakers)

6. Personal statement in English, should include study and work experience, reasons for application and study proposal. No less than 1500 words.

7. Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors in English. (Professors’ signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter.)

8. Published academic papers or other academic achievements. (If any)

9. 2021 version of Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by ZJU Supervisor, (Download). (If any)

    Applicants shall provide the above form for professors to fill. Old versions will not be accepted.

10. Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide GRENTS-GAT test score.

11. Applicant who has given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese nationality, according to the policy of Ministry of Education of the PRC.

12. If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, please provide

[1] documents certifying acquiring foreign citizenship at the time of birth;

[2] documents certifying parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent residence in foreign country before the birth of applicants.

 

5. Selection Process and Dates for Announcing Admission Results

1.  The university enrollment will be made on the basis of competitive selection according to the students’ academic performance, personal study plan and HSK test grade, etc. After the applicant complete the online application, interviews are possibly to be made according to the requirements from the academic departments or colleges respectively. Second-round review will be made by university authorities after initial review made by departments and colleges.

2. Time of announcing the admission results: Admission Notice, Visa Application Forms with other relevant documents will be sent out from the end of July, 2021 in different batches.

3. Applicants will be informed about their application result via ZJU Online Application System (Link).


6. Registration

1.Admitted applicants should strictly follow the register time in the admission notice. Admitted applicants are required to provide the original copies of academic degree certificates; those who fail to provide the original copies will be disqualified for the enrollment.

2. Master’s degree programs of Zhejiang University usually start from end of August or early of September every year. For exact registration dates, please refer to the Admission Notice.

 

7. Scholarships:

    Applicants for master’s degree programs can apply for the following scholarships:

4. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (for applicants applying Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) (Link)

8. Medical Insurance

    Fee: RMB 800 yuan/academic year

    According to the regulations of Ministry of Education, international students who come to our school to study for one semester or longer must purchase comprehensive medical insurance in mainland of China as a necessary requirement for their registration for the new semester.

    Students who fail to purchase the comprehensive medical insurance which meet certain requirements will NOT be registered by the university.

    Information related to purchasing insurance will be notified in detail before registration. The admitted students should handle insurance affairs strictly according to the instructions on the notice.

    Note: The medical treatment expense for physical or mental diseases which students suffered before coming to China can NOT be covered by this insurance.

 

9. Accommodation

    After the registration within the specified time, new students will be assigned to dormitories according to Zhejiang University's arrangements. For accommodation details, please refer to the Life Guide (Link)on the Website of the International College of Zhejiang University.

    Online Accommodation Reservation System will be open for admitted students in August 2021.
